Content
The aim of this unit is to introduce students to the value and practice of research. Students will develop skills in recognising and understanding high quality research, explore how science across diverse disciplines contributes to society, and how research skills can be leveraged in their future professions. The unit will introduce students to the principles and foundational skills of academic research, including research ethics and integrity, intellectual property and commercialisation, critical evaluation of literature and data interpretation, science communication, academic writing and presentation skills. This unit is designed as a transdisciplinary experience; students self-select their choice of research area to explore through their assessment tasks. The unit is appropriate for students of any disciplinary background looking to develop research skills for their future careers, and as an engaged global citizen.
