Content

Architects dream the future into being through the continual interaction of their creative imagination and their representational artefacts.

Architectural design is an iterative process where proposals evolve through the exploration and reflective reappraisal of spatial ideas, undertaken with a range of representational tools via which the architect has a conversation with themselves. The design process culminates with the resolution of a coherent design proposal, communicated to others through final, presentation-quality representational artefacts.

In this unit, students start their process of architectural dreaming, and are introduced to the creative, reflective, and representational skills needed for successful architectural design. Through a series of scaffolded projects, students develop architectural drawing, modelling, and design skills, building upon the existing knowledges and lived experience they arrive with.
