Brief Biography

Dr Mohammad Tareq Chowdhury is an Alfred Deakin Research Institute Research Fellow. He completed his PhD in Economics at the School of Accounting, Economics and Finance at Deakin University in 2013. He also has postgraduate degrees in economics, and development and resource economics.

His main research interest lies in applied macroeconomics-economic development area. In his Ph.D. dissertation he examined the effect of sectoral diversification, corruption, and financial development on exchange rate regime choice, and the consequences of the choice on fiscal discipline. His current research focuses on determinants of sectoral diversification and the relationship between sectoral diversification and growth and volatilities.
