Content

This unit is designed to provide students with the analytical tools necessary to understand foreign policy across a broad range of cases and issue areas in a changing international environment. It will introduce the principal concepts of foreign policy analysis and analytical approaches to understanding foreign policy, and will illustrate these by examining key contemporary cases. There are two main areas of emphasis: the sources of foreign policy, particularly the linkages between domestic aspects and foreign policy; and patterns of foreign policy in the changing international system of states.
