As part of Deakin's commitment to research integrity, all research at the University is required to meet the guidelines set out in the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research. This Code was developed by the National Health and Medical Research Council and Universities Australia to guide responsible research in Australia.
In particular, if your research involves animals or humans (e.g. surveys, interviews) you MUST have ethics approval before you can begin to collect data.
The Office of Research Integrity handles all ethics and animal welfare matters and you should contact them for advice.
A discussion of the general principles of intellectual property as it relates to research is contained in the Guide to Candidature (2 MB) (page 35).
Deakin's policy on intellectual property is set out in The Guide, see Regulation 13.01(1).
