Scholarships for international students

These scholarships can assist you with course fees, living costs, and smaller items like your books and study materials.
Canada student loans
Canadian citizens studying at Deakin University can access funding from the Canadian federal and/or provincial governments. You will need to apply directly to the appropriate government and they will determine the loan amount and how it is managed.
Can Deakin help me?
Deakin will assist by completing enrolment and tuition confirmation forms supplied by the Canadian governmental bodies.
The funds are sent directly to you, and you then need to arrange tuition and fee payments to the University.
You will need to provide Deakin’s Division of Student Administration (DSA) with any other forms to complete.
Please allow up to 10 working days for these forms to be completed.

TL11A Form: Tuition, Education and Textbook Amounts Certificate – University Outside Canada
This certificate is used to certify eligibility for the tuition, education, and textbook amounts of a student attending a university outside Canada and to show the maximum tuition, education, and textbook amounts a student can transfer to a designated individual.
If you need a TL11A to be signed by the University, please download the TL11A form and complete all necessary fields before you provide it to Deakin’s Division of Student Administration (DSA).
TL11D Tuition Fees Certificate: Educational Institutions Outside Canada for a Deemed Resident of Canada
This completed form is used for claiming tuition fees by a student who is deemed to be a resident of Canada under section 250 of the Income Tax Act.
If you need a TL11D to be signed by the University, please download the TL11D form and complete all necessary fields before you provide it to DSA at Deakin.
Confirmation of Enrolment: Schedule 2
Borrowers and post-secondary institutions complete this form as proof that a borrower is enrolled in school. This ensures your student loan remains in interest-free status and that you do not have to begin repaying your loan while you are still studying.
If you need a Confirmation of Enrolment: Schedule 2 to be signed by the University, please download the form and complete all necessary fields before you provide it to DSA at Deakin.

Deakin School of Medicine opportunities
Deakin University provides an outstanding opportunity for Canadian students to study at our innovative School of Medicine – a world-class health precinct, which includes a $47 million cutting-edge teaching and research facility.
- Students can choose to undertake residency internships in Australia or Canada.
- Your qualification will transfer back to Canada.
- Accommodation Scholarship – accept and enrol in the Deakin School of Medicine and you will receive the first six months on campus accommodation free of charge.
- In-person interviews are held in Canada in March and October.
- Priority entry is available to Canadian students with early offers.

Apply for your student visa online
As a student from Canada, you may be eligible to study and live in Australia on a student visa.
Once your student visa has been issued, it will be valid for your whole course of study (as long as you meet all your visa conditions).

Our weather varies a lot – you'll want light clothes to wear in summer and a warm coat for winter (and don't forget clothes to wear to the beach).
You can work part time while you study
You'll be able to work up to 40 hours a fortnight while you're studying in Australia on a student visa.
If you're not studying during Trimester 3 (our non-compulsory trimester) you can work unlimited hours.
