Canada student loans

Canadian citizens studying at Deakin University can access funding from the Canadian federal and/or provincial governments. You will need to apply directly to the appropriate government and they will determine the loan amount and how it is managed.

Can Deakin help me?

Deakin will assist by completing enrolment and tuition confirmation forms supplied by the Canadian governmental bodies.

The funds are sent directly to you, and you then need to arrange tuition and fee payments to the University.

You will need to provide Deakin’s Division of Student Administration (DSA) with any other forms to complete.

Please allow up to 10 working days for these forms to be completed.

Where can i find more information?

Canada Revenue Agency Forms

TL11A Form: Tuition, Education and Textbook Amounts Certificate – University Outside Canada

This certificate is used to certify eligibility for the tuition, education, and textbook amounts of a student attending a university outside Canada and to show the maximum tuition, education, and textbook amounts a student can transfer to a designated individual.

If you need a TL11A to be signed by the University, please download the TL11A form and complete all necessary fields before you provide it to Deakin’s Division of Student Administration (DSA).

TL11D Tuition Fees Certificate: Educational Institutions Outside Canada for a Deemed Resident of Canada

This completed form is used for claiming tuition fees by a student who is deemed to be a resident of Canada under section 250 of the Income Tax Act.

If you need a TL11D to be signed by the University, please download the TL11D form and complete all necessary fields before you provide it to DSA at Deakin.

Confirmation of Enrolment: Schedule 2

Climate

Australia might be famous for its sunny beaches, but we also have lush rainforests and mountain ranges that see snow in winter.

Our weather varies a lot – you'll want light clothes to wear in summer and a warm coat for winter (and don't forget clothes to wear to the beach).

You can work part time while you study

You'll be able to work up to 40 hours a fortnight while you're studying in Australia on a student visa.

If you're not studying during Trimester 3 (our non-compulsory trimester) you can work unlimited hours.

Here at Deakin, we have a service called Job Search Essentials that can help you get job ready and find part-time work.
