The Deakin University GIFT City Campus is a groundbreaking achievement that strengthens our commitment to education in India.
India's first international branch campus
With the Deakin University GIFT City Campus, we have reached two important milestones:
- the first international university to open a teaching campus in India
- Deakin’s first international branch campus.
Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City) is India's first operational greenfield smart city, an international financial and information technology hub in the Gandhinagar district in Gujarat, India. It is a designated Special Economic Zone, in accordance with International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA) regulations. Our campus is situated among leaders of the international fin-tech industry. Learning with these industry partners, Deakin graduates will be prepared for emerging and in-demand roles in India's growth sectors.

Deakin has a long and rich relationship with India as the first foreign university to establish operations in India in 1994. Over almost three decades, we have developed strategic partnerships with India’s premier research organisations, businesses and academic institutions. Our proud engagement with India continues to this day with our presence in GIFT City. We look forward to strengthening these partnerships for the mutual benefits of our students and partners.

As with all Deakin campuses, our GIFT City Campus provides a welcoming and safe teaching and learning environment with accessible facilities shaped to create the best student experience.
At the Deakin GIFT City Campus, we offer future-focused postgraduate courses designed to meet local needs. Students receive the same standard of education as in Australia, with academic standards aligned with Australia’s national accreditation body, the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA).
