You can only upload .PDF files to the printers.

The printers can print to the following paper sizes: A2,A1,A0

How to upload a PDF

There a several steps involved with uploading a document.

1. Opening the document in the Adobe PDF Reader and checking the size of the document is correct.
2. Uploading the document to the printer (Black and White or Colour)
3. Filling out the web form so we can contact you if there are any problems.
4. Checking to see the progress of your job in the print queue. This step is optional.

1. Open the Adobe PDF Reader.
Open the file you wish to print.
Left click on the file menu, and select "document properties" or "properties"
At the lower left of the window you will see "page size" The units next to this represent the paper size. The table to the right lists the paper sizes in millimetres.

For a very informative article about paper sizes click here (opens in a new tab)

2. Decide whether you wish to print in colour or black and white.
Select the appropriate printer by clicking on the respective printer link lower down the page. A popup window with the printer interface will open up.
Left click on the submission tab
Type your first and last name into the "Username" box
Type the unit code eg. SRT251 into the "Job name" box
Left click "Add" and select your PDF
*If you are adding an A0 sized PDF make sure the long edge is vertical.
Left click "OK" You will notice your PDF is added to the document list.
If you need to, now you can change the number of copies (default is 1)
Hint - You can add another document now if you have several PDF files to print
When you are ready press the "Print" button
If you have a large PDF you will notice the "Submitting Job" progress bar at the bottom left of the applet.

3. After you have uploaded your job you need to fill out the Submission Details Form below.
This form emails your details to an A+B staff member so that we can contact you to let you know your print is ready or if there is a problem with your print job.
If you don't fill out this form your job will not be printed.
The form requires the following information:

  • Your NAME
  • Your EMAIL ADDRESS
  • Your DEAKIN USERNAME
  • The PRINTER YOU SENT IT TO

The other fields are optional but it is recommended that you fill them out to enable staff to print your work correctly and on time.

4. You can check the progress of your job in the print queue by opening the appropriate printer link and selecting the "Printer" tab.
If you do not see your job listed, it is because it has not been released to the printer yet and is in the "Inbox queue"
Left click "Inbox queue" (middle of the screen, just under where it says "Printer workload") and find your job.
The printers are generally able to cope with 15-20 jobs per hour. Prints should be available for pickup within two hours.
