Build the foundations for a successful career. Create innovative and sustainable environments with learning principles from art, design, technology and environmental science.

Explore our future-ready programs in Architecture, Construction, and Circular Cities

At the School of Architecture and Built Environment, we offer a future-focused education grounded in three core areas of expertise: Architecture, Construction, and Circular Cities. What sets us apart is our cross-disciplinary approach – students don’t learn in silos. Whether you're designing sustainable buildings, managing complex construction projects, or reimagining regenerative cities, you'll engage across disciplines, with electives and experiences that connect all three fields.

Our programs are delivered by world-class academics, industry professionals, and leading researchers, all with strong ties to real-world projects, global networks, and hands-on workshops. This rich, immersive environment will help you develop the skills, creativity, and global perspective needed to address the most pressing challenges shaping our built environment.

Architecture

Be guided by passionate teachers who empower you to turn your ideas into the homes, buildings, and cities of the future. Our industry-aligned architecture courses are hands-on from day one, combining creativity with real-world experience.

Construction management

Interested in project management, building technology or property markets? Our construction and property courses are renowned for their global perspective, industry relevance and high employability.

Circular Cities

Be at the forefront of sustainable design with Deakin's new circular design program, the first of it's kind in Australia. Integrate technology and spatial design to address societal needs and optimise essential environmental outcomes.

I was attracted to the double degree because I wanted to explore and experiment with all stages of the construction process from both a practical and creative sense. To understand the design from conception to completion.

Benefit from international experience

Gain a global perspective via our faculty-led programs, international internships and volunteering opportunities. You'll enhance your global employability skills in areas like teamwork, critical thinking and intercultural communication, while immersed in a new cultural and learning environment.

Intercultural Dialogue through Design

During your course, you may get the opportunity to apply for Intercultural Dialogue through Design (iDiDe) – an international design workshop where students collaborate with academics, architects and built environment professionals to respond to a socially conscious architectural brief. Our students have travelled to Malaysia, India, Thailand, Sri Lanka and Indonesia.

Attending the iDiDe Study Tour to Malaysia was a highlight. It was a unique way to experience another country, getting to know local university students and experience how architecture is affected by both culture and climate.
