Studying Year 12 in 2026?

Explore your study options and build a shortlist that gets you into university and out to a job that’s right for you.

  1. Shortlist your courses

2027 VTAC application dates will be released soon. When you’re ready, confirm your preference shortlist and explore our courses by ATAR or double degrees. Our handy ATAR and study score calculators make it easy to make confident, informed decisions.

  2. Check your course entry requirements closely

Some courses have special entry requirements, like the Casper test for some education courses or specific subject prerequisites, such as specialist maths. Don’t worry if you don't quite meet the course entry requirements, there are flexible pathways and bridging courses that can help you make your dream degree a reality.

  3. Chat with our experts

Building your preference list can feel stressful, but you’re not alone. We’re here to provide dedicated Year 12 support to guide you through it. Whether you need advice on courses or help with preferencing, chat with us online or call us on 1800 693 888.

  4. Keep on top of key dates

Don’t miss important deadlines. Visit our key dates page for all the info you need on when to apply and how long you have to change your course preference order.

  5. Review your course preferences

Remember, order matters. List courses in the order you want to study them, not the order in which you think you’ll get in. We’ve got all the advice and information you’ll need to feel ready and clear about your change of preference choices.

  6. Find a scholarship

After submitting your preferences, explore Deakin’s scholarships – you might qualify for more than one.  We offer scholarships that recognise potential, reward excellence and support students from all walks of life, including Deakin’s new 50th Anniversary Scholarship.
