Urban Design

The changing nature of our cities has significantly contributed to the need for a more holistic approach to urban design research.  Urban design research at Deakin encompasses a wide array of key research areas within the agenda of local/global sustainable and healthy cities.  Strong links to industry, both locally and internationally, in addition to interdisciplinary cross-faculty collaboration have contributed to highly successful teaching and research programs, such as the ‘Urban Heart Surgery’ forum.  Complementing these programs are a number of core partnerships with several key metropolitan and regional municipalities as well and close links with various branches of the Department of Planning and Community Development.
