Academic Process
History in Practice will have a double blind peer review of the full written paper. At least one of these peers will be external to the conference committee. All papers refereed and accepted for presentation will be published in a CD-Rom. The CD-Rom will be an insert to a Book of Abstracts, which will be distributed to conference delegates and for sale. The CD-Rom of edited refereed papers and the Book of Abstracts will form the official Proceedings of the SAHANZ 08 conference.
General instructions

Document layout
The details of this template are as follows:
- The document should be set up with 2.5cm margins top and bottom, 2.8cm margins left and right, on single A4 pages. IE: no header or footer, no gutter, no odd/even format, no special first page, no page numbering
- Title of Paper, Arial 16pt Bold: Sub-title of Paper, Arial 16pt
Bold, Single Line Spacing
- Follow the title with an updated abstract titled "Abstract". It
should be less than 300 words (in addition to the paper word limit). The abstract may be printed separately
to the papers so please do not integrate the abstract into your introduction. Arial 11pt Italics, 1.5 line
spacing, "blocked" by indenting them by 1cm on both margins. Two returns before first heading
- Use 'normal style' and make this 11 point Arial, with 1.5 line
spacing. Make paragraph breaks with one return. Do not use indents, tabs, or 'space before/after' for paragraphs
- Headings, Arial 11pt Bold. One return after heading. No sub-headings
- Quotes longer than three lines should be "blocked" by indenting them by 1cm on both margins
- Use italic for bibliographic references or foreign language terms only. Do not use bold, or underlining or vary the font size.
Illustrations
- You may submit six illustrations with your text. Insert the images into your Word document
- Resolution of the images must be 200dpi
- Images may be in colour or black and white
- Centre align image. Height of all images should be 7cm for
consistency. Width of image shall be less than or equal to the width of the body text. The images and captions shall be centred on the page, Arial, 10pt, single line spacing, caption centre aligned and indented 2.5cm on both sides
- Label image caption "Figure 1." Arial 11pt Bold, followed by Title of image, brief description if required (source of image as per citation style)
- One return follows a caption
- Locate image as close as practicable to the relevant section of your text
- Maximum? of one image or one composite per page
Footnotes
- Endnotes Arial 10pt, single line spacing, left aligned
- The notes system used will be endnotes rather than footnotes. Use the Footnote function in Word and set it to 'endnotes', with Arabic numbering from 1. Do not use Bibliographic software such as Endnote to format your citations. Endnote will leave in control characters which could make the layout difficult
- For the Citation Style, please observe the endnote guidelines as illustrated in the following examples. This follows Chicago 15 (2003 ed.) referencing, in line with Fabrications. For exceptions to the examples below consult Kate Turabian, A Manual for Writers.
