Jeremy Ham - Lecturer

Associate Professor Judith Trimble

BArch (Hons), Deakin, 1993
MArch, Deakin

Jeremy J. Ham is a registered architect, lecturer in the School of Architecture and Building at Deakin University and member of the Built Environment Research Group. Since graduation with honours in 1993, he has had extensive experience in residential, commercial, educational and industrial architectural projects working with architectural firms and as a sole practitioner. Jeremy was a design team member for Deakin's award-winning Waterfront campus and Great Hall re-development with McGlashan Everist Architects and was project architect for Deakin's supply centre and printery re-development with Seeley + Ball Architects. As a sole practitioner, Jeremy focuses on residential projects, and recently designed the MBAV award-winning Hassell Bedsit project.
Since coming to Deakin in 1999, Jeremy has chaired three units in design and construction technology. These units have been re-designed for online delivery and submission, utilizing digital media in a problem-based-learning environment, through national and university teaching development grants. Jeremy has also been instrumental in the development of online virtual galleries of student work and digital construction technology resources. Jeremy has been recognized through three teaching awards, including the W.J.C. Banks award for Excellence in Teaching in 2002.
Jeremy's research relates broadly to digital design and construction technology education, representational media. His recently completed Masters in Architecture thesis, 'On Representation and Construction in a Tectonic Design Studio' is reflective of the synergies enabled through the association of research with teaching. Jeremy has presented papers at international (eCAADe, CAADRIA) and national conferences (ANZAScA, AUBEA, AASA) in digital design and architectural education.
Outside of Deakin, Jeremy is a professional musician, avid traveler and regular surfer.
