We deliver research-backed, simulation-based training courses for health professionals at all stages, from students to qualified practitioners. Gain new healthcare skills or advance your existing knowledge in a hands-on, dynamic environment, helping you to get ready, and stay ready, for clinical practice.
Deakin Sim Ready provides a safe learning environment to deliver simulation-based training that improves patient care and safety. Our simulation programs can be tailored to students and clinicians across all health disciplines and career stages. Based at Deakin Medical School in Geelong, we also run existing national and international programs such as E-MET, ASIC, and ALS2, and will host Harvard’s Center for Medical Simulation’s Healthcare Simulation Essentials Course. We aim to optimise health education through evidence-based practices and innovative teaching that promotes community, including rural and regional engagement.
We bridge the gap between classroom training and real-world clinical experiences. We currently provide programs targeted at all levels of training in the areas of:
Healthcare simulation replicates clinical scenarios so trainees can gain experience recognising and treating medical conditions. It allows clinicians and students from various disciplines to practise procedures, refine communication techniques and undertake multidisciplinary teamwork training. Deakin Sim Ready provides a risk-free learning environment, where you can learn without the potential to cause patient harm.
When you study at Deakin, you’ll learn in purpose-built simulated environments and have access to cutting-edge technology. Graduate with the confidence and hands-on experience to build a successful career in healthcare.
Thanks to everyone for their hard work in organising the Trauma Supersession. It really highlighted the importance of communication and to constantly reassess the situation.

Our programs provide a supportive environment for you to advance your skills across a range of clinical skills.
Our research-based simulation facilitation and debriefing course provides participants with the knowledge and skills to effectively design/facilitate and debrief simulation programs in a psychologically safe and supportive manner.
Based on the research of Harvard’s Centre for Medical Simulation, the program promotes best-practice approaches to simulation-based education and supports the delivery of high-quality learning experiences for both medical students and healthcare professionals.
The program has been offered broadly across the University clinical sites, supporting Deakin staff and healthcare professionals to enhance their simulation facilitation and debriefing capabilities for student and clinician education.
'I was lucky enough to work with the Deakin Sim Ready team when Barwon Health was commencing its homebirth program. Deakin SimReady ran and facilitated our emergency training day with Ambulance Victoria. This day involved multiple scenarios that may happen in a homebirth setting.
Prior to these training days I would honestly say AV and even some of our obstetric and paediatric team were sceptical that the homebirth program was safe. These education and training days dramatically changed the perception of the homebirth program and honestly completely changed how we now work with Ambulance Victoria.
Not only was this day full of engaging education but it was the collaboration and interprofessional learning and relationship building that has been a game changer for the program. The homebirth program has now been running for a year and both our midwifery team, paeds and Ambulance Vic still talk about how fantastic those training days were.'

Our accredited two-day ALS2 course equips you with essential skills in cardiac arrest and resuscitation management. Through lectures, practical workshops and real-life scenarios, you'll gain hands-on experience and learn the importance of teamwork in critical care situations.
I can with confidence absolutely claim this has been the best run ALS2 course provider that I have experienced.
