Exploring the science and practice of people at work
The Deakin Workplace Wellbeing and Performance Group leads research into the science and practice of people at work. Our work spans employee wellbeing, leadership and organisational performance, with a strong focus on practical, industry-relevant insights. Through close collaboration with the Master of Psychology (Organisational) program and industry partners, we bridge the gap between theory and practice, delivering research that informs more effective workplace strategies and outcomes.
We collaborate with industry partners to produce impactful, relevant research that connects theory with practice in workplace science.
We investigate ways to enhance employee wellbeing, satisfaction and reduce burnout and stress. Our research focuses on job demands, psychological safety and effective stress management interventions.
Our studies examine the dynamics of human wellbeing, including the role of personality traits in individual flourishing and how wellbeing evolves over time.
We study individual differences such as personality, values and abilities, contributing to the development of psychometric assessments like the Big Five and HEXACO models.
Our research looks at the education-to-work transition, focusing on measuring work-readiness and developing interventions like career education and work-integrated learning.
We improve employee selection processes by enhancing the predictive validity of psychometric assessments, creating novel tools and addressing challenges such as response distortion.
Our leadership research explores topics such as abusive leadership, the use of humour, gender representation and the effectiveness of multi-rater assessments (360 reviews) in organisations.
Join us in advancing research that drives better workplace performance and wellbeing. Explore collaboration opportunities or learn more about PhD projects in these critical areas.
Our team consists of experts with extensive research and industry experience, advancing knowledge in individual differences, workplace wellbeing and organisational psychology.
Associate Professor Jeromy Anglim, School of Psychology, leads the research group. His research focuses on individual differences, human performance and wellbeing. Key areas include performance dynamics, personality assessment structures, and the relationship between personality and psychological constructs. He also investigates applications of artificial intelligence and psychometrics in employee selection and assessment.
