Frequently asked questions

Typically, students begin their PhD at their home institution, then spend up to 12 months of their program at their host institution, before returning to their home institution. Candidates must be willing to relocate to both locations to meet the residency requirement.

Candidates are enrolled at both institutions and undertake a single, jointly supervised thesis.
They receive academic supervision from experts at both universities with access to double resources.

On successful completion, graduates have a double graduation and receive dual awards (two testamurs) – one from Deakin and one from the partner institution – recognising completion of the jointly supervised doctoral program.
