What type of projects can I work on?

Like all Deakin courses, the Bachelor of Information Technology focuses on enabling you to start a successful career. Our students complete an industry capstone project where you develop skills and build a portfolio while you address issues relevant to society, from education to healthcare to lifestyle. Some past student projects include:

  • developing a children’s computer game to build their resilience
  • creating a secure online voting system
  • designing a virtual reality experience focusing on altering moods
  • building an online 'Study Buddy' network for students
  • constructing a cyber security threat and assessment toolkit.

How long does it take to complete a Bachelor of Information Technology?

The Deakin Bachelor of IT can be completed in 3 years of full-time study. You can also study part time. If you want to go even deeper into the content, you can add on an honours year.

What campus will I study at?

You can study the Bachelor of IT at Deakin's Melbourne Burwood or Geelong Waurn Ponds campuses. You can also study it online

What are the entry requirements for the Bachelor of Information Technology?

The ATAR varies depending on the campus you choose. You can find the requirement for each campus on the course page. 

The English language requirements are VCE English Units 3 and 4 with a study score of 25 in English as an Additional Language (EAL) or 20 in any other English.

And the good news is you don't need to have any high-level secondary maths!

When can I start the course?

We take students in both Trimester 1 (March) and Trimester 2 (July) each year.
