Brookes First Nations Arts Managers Scholarship
Applications open 14 September 2026 and close 5pm Wednesday 3 February 2027.
Awarded to First Nations students enrolled in Arts and Cultural Management, this scholarship provides financial support to help you pursue your studies.
Value
- Cash payments of $3975 per credit point successfully completed. Total scholarship value up to $15,900.
Duration
- This scholarship is awarded for up to 4 credit points, depending on the remaining duration of your course.
Am I eligible?
Ensure you meet all criteria before submitting an application. To be eligible for this scholarship, you must be:
- an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person
- enrolled in M519 Graduate Certificate of Business (Arts and Cultural Management) at Deakin University in Trimester 1, 2027.
Deakin alumni discount
If you are successful in receiving an offer for this scholarship and you are eligible for the Deakin alumni discount, you can only hold one. You will be asked to nominate which arrangement you would like to hold. If you do not make a nomination, the Deakin alumni discount will automatically be withdrawn.
Maintaining this scholarship
As a scholarship recipient, you:
- will be required to write an introduction statement about your goals for study and what it means to receive the scholarship
- must maintain a pass grade on all enrolled units
- must provide a completion statement at the conclusion of your studies.
Why this scholarship was established
The Sir Wilfred Brookes Charitable Foundation wishes to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who would like to pursue a career in Arts Management, and to improve the representation of First Nations people across the employed Arts workforce. First Nations arts and culture are foundational to Australia’s creative identity, but across the arts sector much of the management and marketing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art is led by non-Indigenous people. The Sir Wilfred Brookes Charitable Foundation has established scholarships to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who aspire to a career in Arts management and leadership.

Register and log in to Deakin's Scholarship Application Portal, then select 'Postgraduate Scholarship Application Tri/Sem 1 2027'. If eligible, your application will be considered for this scholarship and any others you may be eligible for.
Numbers are limited; not all eligible applicants will receive one. Successful applicants will be notified usually within four weeks. Unsuccessful applicants will not be contacted.
