Applications for Trimester 1 2022 close at different times:
Bachelor degrees: close 7 January 2022 5pm.
Honours and postgraduate degrees: close 15 February 2022 5pm.
We will offer a limited number of scholarships for students commencing a bachelor degree at the end of December 2021. The remainder of scholarships are offered within six weeks of the closing date detailed above. To be considered for these early round scholarship offers you will need to submit your application and all supporting documentation by 8 December 2021 at 5pm.
The scholarship is awarded for the normal full time duration of the course. Different study load rules apply to undergraduate and postgraduate students.
$5000 per year ($625 per credit point) paid as cash or towards student contributions (tuition fees) - the choice is yours!
$10,000 per year ($1250 per credit point) paid as cash or towards student contributions (tuition fees), or a combination of both – the choice is yours!
Prospective candidates should ensure they meet all criteria before submitting their application.
To be eligible you must be:
- an Australian citizen, New Zealand citizen, Australian permanent resident or holder of an Australian permanent humanitarian visa
- commencing or currently enrolled in a bachelor or honours degree in a Commonwealth supported place (CSP), or postgraduate by coursework degree (CSP or full fee)
- enrolled at Deakin University in Trimester 1 2022
- bachelor and honours students enrolled full time unless there are exceptional circumstances preventing full time study, or postgraduate students enrolled in at least two credit points
- able to demonstrate achievement in one of the following:
- an ATAR of at least 85
- a Weighted Average Mark (WAM)/Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 80 in previous tertiary study
- leadership experience
- elite sports performance
- community service
- volunteer activities
- the Arts
- any other achievement.
Consideration will be given to students experiencing financial or personal hardship.
Continued eligibility is subject to maintaining a Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of at least 65.
As part of the application process you will also be required to upload supporting documentation.
Make sure you choose the correct Document type when you upload your documents as it will make a difference. If your documents are uploaded into the incorrect type they will not be considered when assessing your application. Remember it is quality, not quantity, which you need to provide. Aim to provide documents which are current, relevant and concise.
The supporting documentation required includes:
- evidence of your previous WAM or GPA (if completed at another institution)
- evidence of any leadership activities or community service achievements
- evidence of any sporting or other achievements.

One application for three scholarships:
When applying direct to Deakin for this scholarship, select the 'Deakin Funded Scholarships Program' option and, if eligible, your application will automatically be considered for the Vice-Chancellor's Academic Excellence Scholarship, Deakin Scholarship for Excellence and Deakin Student Support Scholarship in the selection process.
This reduces the number of scholarships you have to apply for and increases your chances of receiving a Deakin scholarship.

The scholarship application process is highly competitive with a limited number of scholarships available. Unfortunately, not all eligible applicants will receive one.
What happens next
Your application will be assessed and ranked based on the details you provide and your supporting documentation.
If you are successful, you will be contacted by the email address you nominated within your application portal account, unsuccessful applicants will not be contacted.
Commencing bachelor degree students:
We will commence offering a limited number of scholarships at the end of December 2021 with the remainder of scholarships offered progressively from mid-January 2022. To be considered for the December scholarship offer round you will need to submit your application and all supporting documentation by 8 December 2021 at 5pm.
Continuing bachelor degree students:
You'll find out if you were successful usually within six weeks of the application closing date. If you have not received an offer by this time, you have been unsuccessful. You can view the status of your application via your scholarship application portal account.
Honours and postgraduate degree students:
You'll find out if you were successful usually within four weeks of the application closing date. If you have not received an offer by this time, you have been unsuccessful. You can view the status of your application via your scholarship application portal account.

Following the application period above, this scholarship will be available for offer in:
- Trimester/Semester 2 2022 (mid-June 2022 to mid-July 2022)
