George Fairfax Arts Management Scholarship
Applications open Monday 8 September 2025 and close 5pm Wednesday 11 February 2026.
In association with the Sue Nattrass Arts Management Fund, this scholarship is open to students enrolled in postgraduate Arts and Cultural Management studies. George Fairfax was a leading light in the Australian and International theatre scenes, well known for his support and encouragement of activities that involved young people in developing their theatre skills and broadening their understanding of the creative arts.

Duration
- This scholarship is awarded for up to 4 credit points, depending on the remaining duration of your course.
Am I eligible?
Ensure you meet all criteria before submitting an application. To be eligible for this scholarship, you must be:
- a domestic student
- enrolled in M519 Graduate Certificate of Business (Arts and Cultural Management) at Deakin University in Trimester 1, 2026 .
Selection criteria
Preference will be given to students working in small-to-medium arts organisations, those aspiring to establish a career in the arts sector, or those living in remote areas.
Deakin alumni discount
If you are successful in receiving an offer for this scholarship and you are eligible for the Deakin alumni discount, you can only hold one. You will be asked to nominate which arrangement you would like to hold. If you do not make a nomination, the Deakin alumni discount will automatically be withdrawn.
Maintaining this scholarship
As a scholarship recipient, you:
- will be required to write an introduction statement about your goals for study and what it means to receive the scholarship
- must maintain a pass grade on all enrolled units
- must provide a completion statement at the conclusion of your studies.

Register and log in to Deakin's Scholarship Application Portal, then select 'Postgraduate Scholarship Application Tri/Sem 1 2026'. If eligible, your application will be considered for this scholarship and any others you may be eligible for.
Numbers are limited; not all eligible applicants will receive one. Successful applicants will be notified usually within four weeks. Unsuccessful applicants will not be contacted.
