Yes. They are the same masters qualification, just completed in a shorter timeframe through advanced standing (credit for prior study or relevant professional experience). This means you can enter further into the program, having already met part of the learning requirements through previous study or work experience.

Recognition of prior learning recognises relevant prior study or professional experience and may reduce the number of units you need to complete. This can shorten your study time, subject to course rules and assessment by the University. You can list previous experience in your application.

Study time varies by unit, but as a guide you should expect around 10–12 hours per week per unit. A full-time study load is typically equivalent to 40–45 hours per week.

There are several ways to make postgraduate study more affordable at Deakin. Most courses are fee-paying, but eligible students can use a FEE-HELP loan to defer tuition costs and pay over time. You may also be able to access scholarships or other financial support depending on your circumstances.

Yes. Deakin offers a range of scholarships that can reduce the cost of postgraduate study, including options that recognise academic achievement, professional experience and other criteria. If you are a Deakin alumnus, you may also be eligible for a 10% alumni discount on your postgraduate fees.
