Study commitment:

Students will on average spend 150-hours over the teaching period undertaking the teaching, learning and assessment activities for this unit.

This will include educator guided online learning activities within the unit site.

Scheduled learning activities - campus:

1 x 2-hour on-campus seminar per week in non-placement teaching weeks (approx. weeks 1-9)

In-person attendance requirements:

Students who are completing professional experience (placements) are not required to attend lectures or scheduled synchronous sessions during their professional experience (placement).

Content

This unit provides students with the opportunity to apply knowledge of research design and method by undertaking an independent research project relevant to professional practice in education. Student focused learning will incorporate a blend of scheduled tutorials guided by an appointed academic convenor, individual and collaborative peer learning and structured learning modules.

Hurdle requirements

This hurdle task is a well planned dialogic component and sign off task between the student and Research Tutorial convenor (academic staff member) in Week 8 - prior to release of the submission portal for Assessment Task Research Essay. It has been designed to improve assessment quality and authenticity in this research unit. The hurdle task will be a template used by both student and tutor to address key components of being the researcher and education research. Including the use of AI as a tool. The hurdle task will involve a 30 minute dialogic component and sign off component.
