We offer competitive salaries. Salaries are negotiated under our Enterprise Agreement and are subject to regular increases for most staff.

A staff member who performs satisfactorily in their role will receive an annual salary increment until they reach the top of the relevant salary band.
We offer up to 17% superannuation depending on the type and length of appointment.
Recreation leave loading
You will receive 17.5% leave loading on any accrued recreation leave. This is paid in a lump sum at the end of the year.
Salary packaging options
Deakin has a flexible remuneration/salary packaging option for eligible staff, which allows for the salary packaging for items such as novated leasing, in-house childcare and contributions to complying superannuation funds.
Various leave options
We offer a number of leave options to staff. These include:
- Recreation Leave - 20 days per year for academic staff and 21 days per year for general staff
- Long Service Leave - after 7 years of continuous service you will be eligible for long service leave
- Parental Leave - both unpaid and paid parental leave (subject to eligibility criteria).
- Sick Leave - 15 days per year pro-rata
- Carer's Leave - you may utilise sick leave entitlements to take care or support a member of your immediate family or household
- Personal Leave - you may also be eligible for compassionate leave, blood donor leave and other leave types as outlined in the Enterprise Agreement
- Ceremonial Leave - A staff member who identifies as a member of an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander community is entitled to a reasonable period of ceremonial leave. Eligible staff members may be entitled to five days paid leave per annum.

By joining the QANTAS club through us, you will gain access to the cheaper corporate member fees. These fees can also be salary packaged.

We have service agreements with Avis, Hertz and Thrifty that provide discounted rental rates.
We provide for both unpaid and paid parental leave (subject to eligibility criteria).
University holidays & Christmas closedown
The University will recognise the following public holidays as University holidays - New Year's Day, Australia Day, Good Friday, Easter Monday, Easter Tuesday, Anzac Day (where this falls on a week day), AFL Grand Final, Christmas Day and Boxing Day. In addition to this the University closes for 5 working days over the Christmas period.
Flexible work arrangements
We offer flexible work arrangements that can assist you in balancing your work responsibilities other responsibilities you may have.
There are a number of dedicated parent rooms available on all campuses for staff and students to use as well as baby change facilities in designated toilets on each campus.

On-campus child care is available at Melbourne Burwood Campus , Geelong Waurn Ponds Campus and the Warrnambool Campus .
Deakin Fitness Club
Deakin YMCA has professional and fully equipped sports and recreation centres on campus. They offer a number of membership packages that are competitively priced. Salary sacrifice is also available.
