Deakin Alumni, win this wonderful experience at the Australian Open tennis championship 2018.

The package includes;

  • Australian Open 2018 attendance for two people including selected and pre-booked Mens Singles Semifinals tickets
  • The incredible opportunity to walk on to the court and witness the players warming up

How to enter 

The competition is free to enter and is open to all Deakin University Alumni who ‘Like’ the Deakin Alumni Facebook page and/or Connect with Deakin Alumni via LinkedIn by 9am Friday 12 January 2018. One entry in the competition will be recorded for each interaction – one automatic entry for Liking the Facebook page and one for connecting with the LinkedIn page. One alumni winner will be drawn randomly from those eligible.

Terms and conditions

The promoter of this competition is Deakin University ABN 56 721 584 203 of 1 Gheringhap Street, Geelong VIC 3220 (Deakin).

  • Information on how to enter forms part of these Terms and Conditions. By entering the Competition, entrants agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. To be valid, entries must comply with these Terms and Conditions to be valid.
  • This competition is governed by the laws in force in the State of Victoria.

The Competition

  • The competition is free to enter and is open to all Deakin University Alumni who ‘Like’ the Deakin Alumni Facebook page and/or Connect with Deakin Alumni via LinkedIn by 9am Friday 12 January 2018. One entry in the competition will be recorded for each interaction – one automatic entry for Liking the Facebook page and one for connecting with the LinkedIn page. Entrants under 18 years of age must obtain the prior permission of their parent or legal guardian in order to be able to enter and Deakin University reserves the right to require at its discretion any such entrant’s parent or legal guardian to sign a release in which the parent or legal guardian accepts responsibility for the acts and forbearances of the winner.
  • Staff employed by Deakin University Advancement portfolio are not eligible to enter the competition.

Competition period

  • The competition commences at 9am AEST on 15 December 2017 and closes at 9am AEST on 12 January 2018.

The Prize

  • There is one prize package in total being an Australian Open 2018 attendance package for two people including selected and pre-booked Mens singles semi-finals tickets, a fan walk-on experience at Rod Laver Arena Melbourne, dinner at Rockpool Bar & Grill at the event plus overnight accommodation at Mantra Southbank Melbourne.
  • The total prize pool is valued up to $1850.00 AUD.
  • The winner has no ability to change the prize package inclusions and no ability to change the dates that the prize is to be taken. The prize must be taken from 26/01/18 to 27/01/18 in Melbourne, Australia.
  • This prize cannot be substituted for a cash amount.
  • One winner will be drawn randomly from those eligible.
  • The winner acknowledges and agrees that the prize is not a Deakin managed event and that by accepting the 2018 Australian Open package the winner, and their companion(s), agree to be bound by the Conditions of Sale and Entry of Tennis Australia Ltd in relation to the use of the package (details of which are included on the tickets or may be accessed from the Australian Open website).
  • The winner acknowledges and agrees that by entering this competition:
  • The winner accepts and acknowledge full responsibility for their decision to participate in this prize.
  • Deakin and its officers, agents and employees, are and shall be released from all liabilities, loss and damage of any kind arising at any time out of or in connection with the acceptance of, and participation in, the prize. Without limiting the foregoing, the released parties not be liable for any injury, sickness or death, property loss or damage or other direct or indirect loss or damage of any kind, howsoever sustained or incurred, in connection with or arising out of the prize or any other aspect of the prize.
  • If the prize is unavailable, for whatever reason, Deakin reserves the right to substitute the prize for a prize of equal or greater value, subject to State and Territory legislation.

How to enter

  • Entrants who have Liked the Deakin Alumni Facebook page and Connected with Deakin Alumni via LinkedIn on Friday 12 January 2018 at 9.000am will automatically receive one entry in the competition for their Facebook interaction and one entry for their LinkedIn interaction.

Selection and notification of winner

  • The prize draw will be conducted on 12 January 2018 at the Deakin Alumni Office, Deakin University, Waurn Ponds Campus.
  • The winner will be notified by one or more of email, SMS and in writing. The names of the winner will be published online at http://www.deakin.edu.au/alumni within 7 days of the draw date. Winners will be sent the relevant ticketing and information to attend the event.
  • If the winner does not respond to claim the prize within 3 days of the draw, a re-draw will be conducted within 5 days of the original draw date and the substituted winner will be notified as set out in paragraph 17.
  • Prizes are not transferable and are not redeemable for cash. Deakin University’s decision is final and binding - no correspondence will be entered into. Deakin accepts no responsibility for late, lost or misdirected entries or other communications. Entries will be deemed void if forged, manipulated or tampered with in any way.
  • If the winner has to cancel their attendance at the 2018 Australian Open at any time before the event, the Deakin Alumni Office has the authority to redraw the winner and the substituted winner will be notified as set out in paragraph 17.
  • Entrants consent to Deakin using their name, image or voice for promotional purposes. Winners agree to make themselves available for a photograph and interview in the event and if requested by Deakin.

Collection statement


Personal Information provided to Deakin University by entrants will be used to conduct the draw, notify the winner and publish the winner’s name. It will also be used to establish or update information in Deakin University’s Alumni Advancement Database.  For further information on use of alumni data by the University, please see our privacy policy.

Deakin University complies with the Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014 (Vic) in its treatment of personal information. Entrants have a right to access their personal information held by the University. Requests for access to personal information are managed under the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (Vic).
