Geelong is Victoria's second largest city and is situated on the beautiful Corio Bay with the Barwon River winding through. It is a one hour drive from the centre of Melbourne and is known as the gateway to the world-famous Great Ocean Road and some of the best surf beaches in the world.

Deakin Geelong's campus in Waurn Ponds is located 15km west of the centre of Geelong and is set on a large site of more than 300 hectares with landscaped gardens, extensive lawns and two beautiful lakes.

The Campus is close to a shopping centre with banks, post office, supermarkets, doctor, dentist and physiotherapist, department stores and specialty shops, Geelong Regional Baseball Centre, hotels, skate ramps and a cinema complex.

The campus residences boast 446 furnished single rooms, arranged in units with a shared lounge, kitchen, dining, bathroom and laundry facilities.

There are 40 units in total ranging from 2 to 29 bedrooms. Barton College is made up of Dawson, Hammond and Evatt units. Deakin College consists of Boyd, Gordon, Wookey, Collins and Laird units.

Each College has a common room with lounges, tables, TV, video and DVD player, Foxtel, pool tables and bar/kitchen.

There are ample free parking spaces for people staying in residences.

KD Stewart Centre

The KD Stewart Centre, located on the Geelong campus was recently voted in the top 10 facilities around Australia in the 2005 Fitness Industry Awards.

Fitness Club complex
The complex has a weights room with modern pin-loaded weights, leg presses, dip and chin assist and incline and decline benches; a cardio room which has treadmills, spin bikes, elliptical edge walkers and concept rowing machines; and the stretch room which houses a free motion machine, fit balls, medicine balls and hand weights.

Fitness instructors
The facility has a number of VICFIT qualified fitness instructors who have extensive knowledge and competitive backgrounds in a range of sports at a State and/or National level. They have a broad knowledge of all the latest training techniques and the ability to set fitness programs and group activities for a range of abilities, fitness levels and goals.

Main Hall The main hall consists of a stage and two multipurpose sports courts that can be used for a variety of activities. It is fully air-conditioned with data points, a fully equipped PA system and variable lighting. Multi function room

It is fully air-conditioned with data points and network outlet and fully equipped PA system, variable lighting. We can also arrange overhead projector, whiteboard and screen, VCR/DVD palyer, data projector,, 35mm slide projectors, TVs, lecterns, microphones (hand and lapel) and portable PA at an additional cost.

Small meeting room
The small meeting room holds up to 20 people for a meeting, or 30 for a class, or can be set up for group fitness classes such as yoga or meditation.

Squash courts
There are two competition sized squash courts, one with a glass viewing area.

Billiard tables
There are two competition sized pool tables. Billiard and eight ball sets are available for hire.

External facilities
The Geelong campus is privileged to have an impressive range of outdoor sports facilities. There are four main ovals on the campus, two of which have pavilions with change rooms, showers, toilets and canteen facilities.

Rugby/cricket field
The rugby/cricket field has a synthetic cricket wicket and rugby field and can also be set up as a soccer pitch. Floodlights are available for training purposes.

Nicol Oval
Nicol Oval can be used for a number of disciplines including Australian Rules Football, Grid Iron, Rugby and Soccer and it also has an “A” Grade part flood lit Baseball diamond.

Lakeside Oval
Lakeside Oval is set up primarily as a cricket field with a synthetic wicket and a second baseball diamond is also in place.

Jarvis Oval
Jarvis Oval has a turf cricket wicket and soccer pitch. Floodlights are available for training purposes.

Fitness track
A 4.5 km fitness track loops around the University. An external exercise station provides an opportunity to stretch or strengthen at the start and finish of your activity.

Tennis courts
Four floodlit outdoor tennis/netball courts are located at the student residences. Tennis racquets, balls and light tokens are available for hire.

Golf Driving Range
Fancy a hit of golf? The Golf Driving range has 10 bays to practise your swing. Balls and clubs are available for hire.

Swimming pool
Belmont Leisurelink is five minutes away from the campus and features indoor pools and aquatic facilities.

Deakin Geelong can offer groups a range of dining options. The residential dining hall seats several hundred people in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.

Depending on your requirements and activities for the day and night, we can tailor a menu and dining arrangements to suit. For example, we can also provide sit down meals for presentation nights or BBQ meals on the lawn. We always offer vegetarian meal options and can cater for other special dietary requirements.

The campus also has two licensed restaurants, Eats Bistro and Deakin Lakehouse.

Driving from Melbourne City
Access the West Gate Freeway (Princes Highway) and travel through Geelong to Deakin University, Waurn Ponds Campus. Allow just over one hour travelling time from both the CBD and Airport.
