Second series of seminars and workshops
This second series of seminars and workshops will be on ‘The Writing
Process’. An overview with an international focus will
be discussed in the first session. The sessions following this will discuss strategies
and skills for incorporating the literature into the writing process.

What is a literature review?

All HDR students are required to conduct a substantial review of literature
to inform their research study. This seminar discusses the reasons for
this requirement and discusses various strategies for incorporating this
into your thesis.

Synthesising a literature review

This seminar draws attention to the reading
that has been conducted by the student
and the note making strategies used
and how these can be synthesised into
a literature review that evaluates, provides
a critical analysis and informs
the research study.

Introduction to locating and managing literature (Introduction
to Smart Researcher and Endnote)

This session explains methods for storing your literature in the easiest
way possible. It also shows you how to access data and introduces you
to various ways of doing a literature search.
