You will learn how to reference web pages, online articles and electronic databases according to the author-date (Harvard) system.

*9 October: Understanding punctuation

The main purpose of punctuation is to help the reader to understand the writer’s message. In speaking we use volume, tone, pitch and pauses, as well as body language, to convey meaning. Punctuation does this in writing. Come along to this workshop and find out how to use those little squiggles (full stops, commas, semicolons and colons) to more clearly convey your meaning.

You can also come to drop-in time between 11 am and 1 pm any Monday to Friday in Room B2.37, Building B. Meet with a Language and Learning Adviser to discuss ways of improving your approaches to assignments or adjusting to learning at university. These consultations are free. There is no need to book ahead. When you come, put your name on the list and we will see you in order of arrival.

Please note that consultations are teaching and learning sessions. Although we can help you to develop your own editing skills, Language and Learning Advisers do not offer a proofreading or editing service.
