Practical demonstrating can be both personally and professionally rewarding. You will:
- Enhance your own understanding of your discipline. You certainly develop a better understanding of concepts when you have to explain them to others. The old saying is if you really want to learn something then teach it.
- Develop skills in converting the complex terms and concepts of the discipline into language the class can understand. This is particularly necessary in first year.
- Develop your communication skills as well as your self confidence.
- Develop skills of people management, time management, as well as skills in guidance and support.
These are all valuable transferable skills relevant to a wide range of employment opportunities both within and outside higher education.
