Practical demonstrating can be both personally and professionally rewarding. You will:

1. Enhance your own understanding of your discipline. You certainly develop a better understanding of concepts when you have to explain them to others. The old saying is if you really want to learn something then teach it.
2. Develop skills in converting the complex terms and concepts of the discipline into language the class can understand. This is particularly necessary in first year.
3. Develop your communication skills as well as your self confidence.
4. Develop skills of people management, time management, as well as skills in guidance and support.

These are all valuable transferable skills relevant to a wide range of employment opportunities both within and outside higher education.
