Biography summary

Dr Vince Marotta is Deputy Director (Publishing and Mentorship) of the Centre for Citizenship and Globalisation and is a Senior Lecturer (Sociology) in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Deakin University. His main research interests include social theory, urban sociology, multiculturalism, cultural identity, cosmopolitanism and theories of the stranger. He is also Managing Editor of the Journal of Intercultural Studies (Routledge). His current work focuses on transcultural capital and transcultural identity and he is completing a book on Theories of the Stranger: Debates on Cosmopolitanism, Identity and Cross-Cultural Encounters for Ashgate (2014). His recent co-edited books include Intercultural Relations in a Global World (Common Ground Publishers, 2011) and Muslims in the West and the Challenges of Belonging (MUP, 2012).
