One was in financial planning, one was in town planning. And then more recently I got an internship in accounting, which I'm working part-time now after completing my internship. It's a good place to be in knowing that you have a job secured soon after you graduate and really looking forward to the opportunities.’
Work experience can help you answer that question of what is commerce? Trying different roles as you study gives you a better understanding of the field so you can focus on what interests you most. These exciting learning experiences can include international opportunities, including internships, consultancy programs, study tours and exchange programs. International consultancy programs made a real difference for Deakin commerce graduate Kai Crosby, who says, ‘When I came to interviews for professional services roles, I was really proud to go on and talk about my experiences in Vietnam and Japan and how I’d faced client problems. It felt like I had something really tangible to present at my interviews.’
