A cutting-edge fusion of live performance and new technologies will light up the iconic Federation Square at the highly anticipated White Night Melbourne later this month.

Deakin University's Motion.Lab, in partnership with Federation Square, will present Vox Lumen: People into Light for 12 hours when White Night Melbourne kicks off at 7pm on Saturday, 21 February.

The event will transform one of Melbourne's iconic attractions into an interactive world using abstract digital projections, dancer-driven live motion capture, and interactive content that will track the movement of the crowds during Melbourne's biggest arts and culture event.

Vox Lumen project manager Peter Divers said the event will fuse live performance with audience interactivity.

"The movement of individuals in the crowd will actually influence the graphics on the screen," Mr Divers said.

"The Vox Lumen event is an amazing opportunity for visitors to Federation Square to participate in a large-scale interactive art installation, as well as to see live motion capture in action."

Using cutting edge motion tracking technology and self-generating live motion feeds, Vox Lumen will demonstrate the potential of performance and new technologies to construct imaginative architectures with a stunning performance of imagery and lights.
