Three lucky Deakin alumni winners will win their choice of a GoPro Fusion Digital Video Camera or a Canon EOS 800D DSLR camera.

The competition is open to Deakin University alumni who submit a well-lit high resolution head-and-neck close-up portrait photograph of yourself via your preferred email address to deakinalumni@deakin.edu.au. The email containing the photograph must be accompanied by your full name, date of birth, graduation year, and current residential address.

The photographs will be used as part of Deakin Alumni 40th Anniversary commemorative commissioned artwork that will be on display this year at Deakin Alumni events and at the Deakin Geelong and Burwood Campuses. All the individual portrait photographs will be used together to make a larger image in the artwork.

Three Deakin alumni winners will be chosen at random from those who are eligible.

Terms and conditions

The promoter of this competition is Deakin University ABN 56 721 584 203 of 1 Gheringhap Street, Geelong VIC 3220.

1. Information on how to enter forms part of these Terms and Conditions. By entering, entrants agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions and entries must comply with these Terms and Conditions to be valid.

2. This competition is governed by the laws in force in the State of Victoria.

The competition

3. The competition is free to enter and is open to Deakin University alumni who submit a well-lit high resolution head-and-neck close-up portrait photograph of themselves via their preferred email to deakinalumni@deakin.edu.au. The email containing the photograph must be accompanied by the Deakin alumni members’ full name, date of birth, graduation year, and current residential address. To be eligible, entrants must have a valid and contactable email address in the Deakin Alumni Community Portal database and must have not selected ‘no further email contact’ or ‘no further contact’ from Deakin University.

4. Staff employed by Deakin University Advancement portfolio are not eligible to enter the competition.

5. Each alumni member can only have one entry in the competition.

Competition period

6. The competition commences at 9am AEST on 30 May 2018 and closes at 12noon AEST on 18 June 2018.

The prize

7. Three alumni winners will be drawn from those eligible and the winners can choose between a GoPro Fusion 360 Digital Camera or a Canon EOS 800D DSLR camera.

8. The total prize pool is valued up to $3,000AUD.

How to enter

9. Deakin alumni entrants must send an email to deakinalumni@deakin.edu.au from their preferred email address including a well-lit high resolution head-and-neck close-up portrait photograph of themselves via their preferred email to be used in a Deakin-commissioned commemorative artwork for Deakin Alumni’s 40th anniversary – this artwork will be on display at Deakin Alumni events and in a touring exhibition that will be staged on the Deakin Campuses. This email entry must also contain the entrants full name, date of birth, graduation year, and their current residential address. This response must be emailed during the competition period to be eligible.

10. The winners will be chosen randomly Deakin on 30 June 2018 at the Deakin University Alumni Waurn Ponds Office.

11. The winners will be notified via email. The names of the winners will be published online at http://www.deakin.edu.au/alumni within 15 days of them being chosen. Where possible, winners will be asked to collect their prize from the Deakin University Waurn Ponds, Burwood Campuses or Deakin Downtown. If collection is not possible, winners will be sent the prize via mail to the residential address which they provide in their entry email.

12. If the winner does not respond to claim the prize within 14 days of being chosen, the prize will be redrawn within 21 days of the competition end date and the substituted winner will be notified as set out in paragraph 10.

13. Prizes are not transferable. Deakin University’s decision is final and binding - no correspondence will be entered into. Deakin accepts no responsibility for late, lost or misdirected entries or other communications. Entries will be deemed void if forged, manipulated or tampered with in any way.

Consent to promotion

14. Entrants consent to Deakin using their name, image or voice for promotional purposes on the Deakin alumni webpages, dKin alumni enewsletter, Deakin alumni Facebook page and Deakin alumni LinkedIn page. Winners agree to make themselves available for a photograph and interview in the event and if requested by Deakin.

15. Entrants consent that their image supplied will be reproduced and will feature as part of a large Deakin commissioned commemorative artwork that will be shown at Deakin Alumni events and in a touring exhibition that will be staged at the Deakin Campuses.

Collection statement

16. Deakin University is collecting your personal information on this form for the primary purposes of entering you into the Deakin Alumni Portrait Photo Competition and including your name in the list of contributors to the commemorative commissioned artwork for Deakin Alumni’s 40th anniversary, as well as updating your personal information in the Deakin Alumni Community portal and Deakin will use this personal information to select the competition winner and contact you if you are the winner.

17. You are not required to provide the information requested, however if the information is not provided, Deakin may not be able to register you for the draw.

Deakin manages personal information, including requests by individuals for access to their personal information, in accordance with the Privacy and Data Protection Act 2000 (Vic).  Deakin’s Privacy Policy is available from the Policy Library.
