Brief Biography

Oliver maintains primary research interests in the economic effects of aid and in trade policy reform, especially in Africa. He joined Nottingham in 1989 and was promoted to his current position in 2004. He has published many articles in international journals, mostly on aid policy and effectiveness , trade policy reform , conditionality and adjustment, and supply response in agriculture.

Present research concentrates on the fiscal impact of aid; EU- ACP economic relationships; trade policy, performance and poverty; and the political economy of policy reform.
