Supervisor training for psychologists

Our state-of-the-art, competency-based full training program and masterclass is delivered in accordance with the training framework and standards as specified in the Psychology Board of Australia's Guidelines for supervisors and supervisor training providers. This program is for registered psychologists wanting to obtain or retain endorsement for supervising.

The government program offers a limited number of training places at no cost for eligible psychologists to complete the Deakin University Psychology Supervisor Training (DUPST) program and masterclasses, approved by the Psychology Board of Australia.

Financial support to attend

To support attendance and completion of the training by priority groups, a bursary will be made available to candidates who meet criteria. Eligibility for this support will be determined following expression of interest and will be made available upon successful completion of the program.

Deakin is offering full training for psychologists who have held general registration for three years and want to become a Psychology Board-approved supervisor.

There are three components to complete:

• Part 1 – Online knowledge, comprised of guided reading and quizzes, delivered online anytime and self-paced (approximately 8 hours to complete). Participants must successfully complete this component at least two weeks before attending Part 2.
• Part 2 – Skills training workshops, conducted over two consecutive days with face-to-face (Melbourne CBD and Warrnambool) and online options (see below).
• Part 3 – Competency assessment and evaluation, aligns with learnings from Part 2 and involves online submission of a video and a written self-reflective piece, submitted within three months of completing Part 2.

Following successful completion of all components, participants are required to submit their completion certificates and application form to the Psychology Board for professional recognition.

We are also offering masterclasses for psychology supervisors who need to undertake refresher training to retain their supervisor status (every five years from the date of obtaining initial supervisor status).

Training workshops and masterclasses are held either online or face-to-face in Warrnambool or other locations in regional Victoria, or at Deakin Downtown, Level 12, 727 Collins Street, Melbourne, VIC 3000.

Transfers or withdrawals within 14 days of a workshop or masterclass may be charged an administration fee.
