Course fees for domestic students

The fees you are charged at Deakin depend on the type of student you are, the course you study and the year you commenced in that course. Use the tabs below to identify your type of place and the fees attached to it.

What tuition fees will I need to pay?

The fees you pay depend on what you are studying, the year you commence and whether the Government provides a contribution towards the full cost of your studies.

To find out what whether you are enrolled in a fee-paying or Commonwealth supported place (CSP) place check your course offer email, or generate an invoice in StudentConnect, then select the tab which applies to you below.

Fee-paying places

A fee-paying place is one for which the university does not receive any government funding. Students enrolled in these places contribute the full cost of their course. There are tables below listing the current fees for domestic fee-paying places.

The tuition fees you are charged depend on the year you commenced study in that course.

Commonwealth supported places

A Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP) is a higher education place available to domestic students for which the University receives some government funding. Students enrolled in these places are only required to contribute to part of the cost of their course. This is referred to as the 'student contribution'. There are tables below listing the current fees for Commonwealth supported places.

The cost of your course depends on the units you are studying. Your fees may vary from study period to study period as your enrolled units change. You should generate your invoice each study period to make sure your enrolment details are correct and the review the applicable fee amounts.

2016 student contributions

This table shows the estimated 2016 course fees for Commonwealth supported places by study discipline showing band, application based on commencement of studies, annual cost for full time study and rate per credit point. Your tuition fees (student contribution) are calculated based on the units you enrol in.

Research places

Successful applicants for research degree candidature, who are Australian citizens or permanent residents or New Zealand citizens do not have to pay tuition fees. The University's Student Services and Amenities fee is also not charged for research degree students.

Non-award places

A non-award unit is the same as a fee-paying place. The University does not receive any government funding and students enrolled in these units contribute the full cost of their unit. There are tables below listing the current fees for domestic fee-paying places.
