Chief Operating Officer

Graeme Dennehy

Mr Graeme Dennehy commenced as Deakin's Chief Operating Officer on August 7, 2006.

Prior to taking up this role, Graeme was the Executive Director (Business and Administration) with the University of New England, a position he held from October 1997. His major responsibilities included the provision of leadership and oversight of the University's corporate and commercial services including Financial Services, Facilities Management, Information Technology, Student Administration and Services, Human Resources and Marketing and Public Affairs Directorates. He also had responsibility for the offices of the University Lawyer, Internal Audit, Secretariat and Commercial Services.

Prior to commencing at the University of New England, Graeme worked for nine years with the Northern Territory University.

His earlier career was in the construction industry where he held a number of senior management positions with the Northern Territory Government.

Graeme possesses an honours degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Technology, Sydney and a Corporate Directors Diploma from the Corporate Directors Association of Australia. He is a Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) and a Fellow of the Corporate Directors Association (FCDA).

His experience includes Directorships of the University of New England Foundation, Armidale/Dumareng Economic Development Committee, the International Livestock and Resources Information Centre (ILRIC), UNE Partnership (UNEP) and the New England Conservatorium of Music (NECOM). He is also a past Company Secretary of the National Marine Science Centre (NMSC) and a member representing UNE at the Agricultural Business Research Institute (ABRI).

Graeme is also a qualified auditor with the Australian Universities Quality Agency (AUQA). His experience includes the role of Deputy Chair of the Audit Panel for Central Queensland University (CQU) and is currently the Chair of the Audit Panel for the University of the Sunshine Coast (USC).
