Deakin Vice-Chancellor Professor Jane den Hollander AO has welcomed the Federal Opposition’s appointment of shadow ministers for education, training and industry roles.

Professor den Hollander congratulated the Hon Tanya Plibersek MP on her reappointment as Shadow Minister for Education and the Hon Brendan O'Connor MP on his appointment as Shadow Minister for Science and Industry.

"As we do with the Federal Government, Deakin will continue working with the Opposition on key policy areas important to the future of higher education in Australia and I particularly note Ms Plibersek’s strong history in this important area, and her deep understanding of the issues that confront the sector," she said.

"Ms Plibersek’s experience will be an asset, as will that of Mr O’Connor, who has served as a former minister in a range of portfolios relevant to our sector, including school education, employment, and skills and training."

Professor den Hollander also welcomed the appointment of Ms Clare O'Neil MP as Shadow Minister for Innovation, Technology and the Future of Work, and Mr Graham Perrett MP elevation as Shadow Assistant Minister for Education and Training.
