Tomcar special guest at engineering alumni event

The Deakin Engineering Alumni Chapter held its second event for 2017 in July at the Deakin Downtown venue in Melbourne’s CBD.

Guest speaker for the evening was Mr David Brim, the CEO and co-founder of Tomcar Australia. Tomcar Australia is an innovative Australian manufacturer of military, agricultural and mining off-road all-terrain vehicles.

Mr Brim is a strong advocate of 're-shoring' manufacturing back to Australia and supporting local auto startups. He spoke about utilising the latest technology to disrupt the traditional manufacturing industry and gain unique distribution access to the marketplace.

The format for the evening was an interactive question and answer session, with Master of Ceremony duties performed by Deakin Engineering alumnus Lieutenant Colonel Dave Hughes.

The third 2017 event for the Deakin Engineering Alumni Chapter will be held later in the year at Deakin’s Geelong Waurn Ponds Campus.
