Join the Deakin Warrnambool Sharks Network
19 March 2015
The Deakin Alumni Office together with the Warrnambool Deakin University Sharks Football and Netball Club, are searching for past players and members including the 1977 students who were part of the Warrnambool Institute Football Club.
The Sharks are now an official Deakin Alumni Network and as such the Deakin Alumni Office will maintain the present and past player and member database. The aim in establishing the group as an official network is to re-engage and reunite past players and students with Deakin and the Sharks, provide social activities on an annual basis to alumni members and to provide current student players with a network to assist with mentoring.
If you were a past player or supporting member, whether you attended Deakin or not, please contact the Central Alumni Office to register as a network member:

About The Sharks
The Sharks were founded in 1977 by a group of students to provide their peers with a recreational outlet. Originally known as the Warrnambool Institute Football Club, the name Deakin University Football Netball Club was officially adopted in 1990.
The Sharks have played-off in three senior football grand finals (1990, 2000 and 2001) and won a reserves premiership in 2001. In 2011, the A Reserve netballers were runners-up. Although success has been limited, fun and friendship has always been in abundance. The Club provided a social and sporting outlet for 1800 plus footballers and netballers since its inception.
Today the Sharks fields two senior football and three senior netball teams. The Sharks have also formed an allegiance with the Mortlake Junior Sharks and there are now three junior football and three junior netball sides (the alliance with Mortlake Junior Sharks also ensures that the infamous 'Shark Shuffle', which originated on Lady Bay dancefloor in 83, will live on).
