Deakin's Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Science is the first and only nationally accredited undergraduate exercise and sport science program in Victoria. This accreditation has been awarded by Exercise and Sport Science Australia (ESSA).

Graduates of the Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Science course including the approved units specified for the Exercise Science - ESSA sequence may apply for registration for full membership of Exercise and Sport Science Australia (ESSA) at the Exercise Scientist level.

ESSA have seven membership categories.

To obtain work in the fitness industry as a Personal Trainer you will need to apply for professional registration. Fitness Australia recognises Deakin Exercise and Sport Science graduates' qualifications.

To gain accreditation as a coach, you can complete sport specific training through your national and state sporting organisations. For further details about becoming an accredited coach, log onto the Australian Sports Commission.
