- About Deakin
Travel survey's undertaken each year indicate that over 60 percent of staff and 30 percent of students drive to Deakin University as a sole occupant driver, producing over 39,000 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions each year. That's equivalent to over 700 million black balloons! Carpooling to Deakin is one way to reduce pollution and emissions.
Deakin University provides a free online carpool matching service which will help you find another staff or student who lives in your area who wants to share the ride to uni. You can carpool every day or only when it is convenient. Find out how to register in the new member registration page.

To support your commute to campus Travel and Transport has established a carpooling car park on level 2 (east end) of the multi-story car park (car park 6) on the Melbourne Burwood Campus. These are designated for carpoolers only. For more information visit the parking office.
To park in the designated area you will need to display either a daily, casual, general trimester or annual parking permit. You can still, however, save money if you share the cost of a permit.
There are no designated carpooling carparks on the other campuses at this stage, however, Travel and Transport are investigating the possibility on the other campuses. You will still save money in the interim by halving the costs of your parking permit and sharing the costs of fuel.
