Fire Safety Corrective Works - Various
Fire Safety Corrective works will be conducted in various locations across multiple campuses.
Location: Various
Commencement: 23 September 2026
Expected Completion: 30 November 2026
Project scope:
The project scope includes works at the following locations:
- Burwood Campus – Buildings L and N
- Warrnambool Campus – Buildings F and J
- Waurn Ponds Campus – Buildings DD and KA
The primary works involve the replacement of all Emergency and Exit Lighting throughout the nominated buildings, including upgrading existing wired systems to wireless emergency lighting technology. An exception is Waurn Ponds Building DD, where the emergency lighting system will remain wired due to the complexity of the building configuration; however, all fittings will be replaced with new wired units.
In addition, Waurn Ponds Building KA will undergo upgrades to the:
- Fire Indicator Panel (FIP)
- Emergency Warning and Intercommunication System (EWIS)
Construction impacts:
To minimise disruption to building occupants, most intrusive and disruptive works will be undertaken outside normal business hours wherever possible. Some activities will still need to occur during business hours and will be coordinated closely with the nominated stakeholder representatives, taking into consideration the operational requirements and critical dates previously provided.

Building OA Laundry Works - Waurn Ponds Campus
Upcoming site works in Building OA will include laundry equipment changeover, and associated electrical, hydraulic and mechanical service upgrades.
Location: Building OA
Commencement: 21 September 2026
Expected Completion: 23 October 2026
Construction impacts:
During this time, Room OA2.207 will be closed, with increased contractor presence and general construction activities, noise and dust on site throughout this period.

Building HD Refresh - Burwood Campus
Construction has commenced in Building HD at the Burwood Campus, marking the beginning of a major refresh which will create a more connected, visible and accessible experience for our students.
Location: Building HD
Commencement: September 2026
Expected Completion: February 2027
Project scope:
The project will bring together DUSA staff, student services and student-focused spaces currently spread across several locations into one purpose-designed hub at the heart of the campus.
Located near Student Central, the refreshed spaces will offer students:
- easier access to support services
- a more visible DUSA presence
- lounge areas, games spaces and flexible seating
- centralised access and purpose-designed meal and pantry services, including free breakfasts
- greater opportunities to connect through events, activities, eSports and shared social spaces
- improved signage and integration of student-facing communications
Construction impacts:
During construction:
- DUSA services in Buildings H and A will remain open and operating from their current locations until construction is complete.
- Caffeine is temporarily closed and will reopen on Level 1 of Building HD.
- Construction activity will be contained within Levels 1 and 2 of Building HD.
- Access to the HD lift and stairwell will remain available. Contractors will also use the lift during construction, so at times you may wish to use the alternative lift near Student Central in Building HE.

Fire Protection System Works, Building AD - Waterfront Campus
Fire protection system works will take place in the Level 6 plant room of Building AD at the Waterfront Campus on:
- Friday 11 September
- Tuesday 15 September
- Wednesday 16 September
Location: Building AD, Level 6 Plant Room
Commencement: 11 September 2026
Expected Completion: 16 September 2026
These works are expected to have minimal impact; however, building occupants may experience brief periods of significant noise if the smoke spill fans are activated. Measures will be taken to avoid this occurring where possible.

Climate Chamber Upgrade - Waurn Ponds Campus
The Climate Chamber in Building DD at Waurn Ponds Campus is being upgraded to improve its performance and address the limitations of the existing unit. Once complete, the upgraded Climate Chamber will deliver enhanced performance and capabilities.
Location: Building DD, (DD2.208, DD2,212.02 & DD2.207.01, DD1.206)
Commencement: 6 July 2026
Expected Completion: 9 October 2026
Project scope:
- Decommissioning the existing equipment in Room DD2.208.
- Complete demolition in Room DD2.208 and DD2.212.02.
- Complete a building works package to level 2, including new doors to the corridor from room DD2.208.
- A new corridor inside room DD2.208 and works to accommodate new services.
- Installation of a new air handling unit for the climate chamber in room DD2.208.
- A new plant room is to be constructed in DD1.206, which slightly reduces the number of bike spaces in the storage.
- Two new condenser units will be installed outside room D1.206.
