What you can expect at Deakin
Deakin’s approach is guided by a strong framework of policies and procedures, including the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Policy, the Gender Based Violence Prevention and Response Policy, Student rights and responsibilities, and our staff and student Codes of Conduct.
We also provide a wide range of programs, resources, and support services designed to prevent harm in all its forms and to respond effectively when concerns arise.
Specialist staff
Deakin has specialist staff trained to respond to serious incidents, including discrimination and gender-based violence, and to provide appropriate, trauma-informed and culturally inclusive support.
Deakin also has around-the-clock on-campus security services that are available to support students with any safety or assistance needs.
Consistency
Ongoing education, supported by policies and procedures to ensure consistent and appropriate handling of disclosures. Obtaining prevalence data will be a key focus to inform improvements.
