Short-term partner programs

What's a short-term partner program?

Go on a mini exchange in between your studies at one of our partner universities or approved hosts.

Short-term programs are available through Deakin’s partner universities and approved hosts. They offer you a short-term experience with a long-term impact.

There are two types of short-term partner programs:

Exchange – where you pay tuition fees to Deakin as per normal but pay all associated program costs directly to your host institution.
Study abroad – where you pay tuition fees and all associated program costs directly to your host institution.

Please refer to the specific program information in our application portal to find out whether your program is exchange or study abroad. Program application deadlines vary according to the host university. Some programs have limited places and may close early if all places are filled.

If you're unsure whether your course plan can accommodate a short-term exchange, we recommend you contact Student Central for guidance.

Before you apply

Please ensure you read the following information before submitting an application.

Eligibility

To participate you must:

have a minimum Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of 60 unless otherwise stated. Some discretion may apply to this requirement.
have 8 credit points completed at the time of departure for undergraduate students, and 4 credit points completed at the time of departure for postgraduate students.

Please ensure you meet any additional program-specific requirements outlined in the program brochure.

You'll also need to attend one of our compulsory pre-departure sessions a minimum of six weeks prior to leaving the country.

Please note: any loans or funding may only be received after you are required to pay for your program. Payment deadlines must be met regardless of when you receive funding (pending eligibility).
