Short-term experiences with a long-term impact

Short-term partner programs are intensive, for-credit study abroad opportunities that run during the June/July break and Trimester 3. These 2–6 week long programs are offered by Deakin’s partner universities and approved hosts.

To participate you must have a minimum Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of 60 unless otherwise stated. Some discretion may apply to this requirement. Please email short-term-abroad@deakin.edu.au if you have a question.

Importantly, if you're undertaking your final unit abroad, your attendance at a graduation ceremony may be delayed due to your host university releasing results at conflicting times. By proceeding with a short-term partner program application, you acknowledge that you will need to attend the next available graduation ceremony.

There are two types of short-term partner programs:

  • Exchange – where you pay tuition fees to Deakin as per normal but pay all associated program costs directly to your host institution.
  • Study abroad – where you pay tuition fees and all associated program costs directly to your host institution.

You will be required to pay a $55 non-refundable short-term application fee when you apply. Your application will not be considered if this fee is not paid.

Please refer to the specific program brochure to find out whether your program is exchange or study abroad. Program application deadlines vary per program according to the host university. Some programs have limited places and may close early if all places are filled. Please see program brochures linked below for more information.
