Orientation starts from when you accept your offer. You’ll feel welcome and supported as you prepare for your course.

Welcome to Deakin

Congratulations, and thank you for joining the Deakin community. Orientation is the start of your Deakin journey, combining the best of Deakin's digital and physical environments and includes an extensive range of events, resources and activities.

Whether you're an undergraduate, postgraduate or research student, Orientation is the perfect introduction to university life at Deakin.

Use the Orientation itinerary to tailor and plan your orientation experience, so you don't miss a thing, and visit our New student checklist to get started with your uni preparation.

OWeek highlights include:

  • Attending a course information session that outlines your course structure and requirements, so you're set up for success!
  • Learning about your online and physical learning environments along with support.
  • Learning about the Deakin University Student Association (affectionately known as DUSA), a community run by students for students to enrich your university experience.
  • Make friends and explore your campus at DUSA OFest! Meet others students, check out the clubs and societies and attend a range of on- and off-campus social events and activities.
  • Attend a campus tour showcasing our world-class facilities and the best of what Deakin offers.

Get Social

OWeek is all about meeting new people, making new connections and getting involved with all that Deakin offers. Throughout the week, you will learn about the more practical support services available to you, but you can also meet peer mentors, join a club or society and perhaps even try a new sport – it's all up to you!

Whether you're joining us online or on campus, we have a comprehensive Orientation experience for everyone. You can also follow us on social media – check us out on DeakinLife Instagram or join our student Facebook groups: Life @ Deakin, International Students @ Deakin, and Online @ Deakin.

Here at Deakin, we are here to help you adjust to university life and ensure that you feel welcome and supported every step of the way.

We can’t wait to meet you.
