Global Citizenship Program

Enhance your cultural intelligence and strengthen your sense of community with inclusive leadership skills.

Global Citizenship Program

In an increasingly globalised world, employers and businesses are looking for candidates who understand interdependent issues from local and global perspectives. A degree from Deakin demonstrates that you are globally aware, culturally sensitive, and adapt well to new and diverse environments.

The Global Citizenship Program takes this to the next level and enhances your international engagement during your degree. You can undertake diverse global learning experiences such as:

  • international study programs
  • international internships
  • foreign language studies
  • digital credential-accredited modules
  • leadership in clubs/organisations with a global focus.

View a full list of GCP-endorsed activities and join today.

Upon completion of your global learning experiences, you are eligible to apply for a Global Citizenship Award, including our Deakin GCP digital credential and the option of a further CQAccelerator digital credential.

Deakin Global Citizenship Award digital credential

Upon receiving a Global Citizenship Award, you will also be awarded a GCP digital credential. The GCP digital credential can be used to validate and share their achievement through professional platforms like LinkedIn or digital resumes. At Deakin, we consult industry and community partners about the design of all our digital credentials to ensure that they are relevant to employers and reflect skills and achievement that are valued in graduates.

CQAccelerator Leadership Program and Leading Across Cultures digital credential

The CQAccelerator (Cultural Intelligence) Leadership Program is a three-week online module designed to grow cultural intelligence through common language and framework. Developed by Common Purpose, you will engage in a variety of activities that challenge your cultural perspectives, reflect on your learnings and translate this to personal experience, develop a set of leadership practices and engage with assessment tasks to track progress. This leadership program is not compulsory but is free for current Deakin students who apply for the GCP Award.

Be notified when the next round opens.

While the Global Citizenship Program is primarily non-credit bearing, our suite of digital credentials aims to further solidify your skills and knowledge of what it takes to be a true global citizen.
