NIKERI Institute
Our history
The National Indigenous Knowledges Education Research Innovation (NIKERI) Institute is proud of more than 30 years of history at Deakin and acknowledges the more than 1000 students who have graduated.
Like the original Koorie Teacher Education Program (KTEP) and then evolution into the Institute of Koorie Education (IKE), the renaming to NIKERI Institute demonstrates the institute's growing capabilities.
The name change reflects a national footprint inclusive of all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples and growing Indigenous Knowledges and commitment to Indigenous research within the institute.
