Students and staff who take the 75 tram heading in either direction along the Burwood Highway to the Melbourne Burwood Campus can now travel the entire route on a Zone 1 or Zone 2 fare. This is because the Zone 1 and 2 overlap has been extended to the eastern end of tram routes 42, 75, 86 and 109.
Welcome to the second edition of Travel Journey – in this edition find out the latest news, campus initiatives and events that have been occurring on each of the 4 campuses in 2010.
We would also like to announce the completion of the Melbourne Burwood Campus TravelSmart Project which officially ended on 30 June 2010. Just to recap that TravelSmart was a joint initiative between the Department of Transport and Deakin University to reduce the number of staff and students taking a single occupant motor vehicle to the Melbourne Burwood Campus. Despite official funding at a close we also have some great news to share. Due to high demand from staff and students, key successful components have merged into the Office for Sustainability's Sustainable Transport program and will be extended across all four campuses over the forthcoming years.
This is a great outcome for us all here who have been on the TravelSmart committee and ensures not only the continuation of TravelSmart’s great programs but also its integration across all 4 campuses. So keep an eye out in the coming months for future developments – make sure to keep the TravelSmart website as a bookmark and become a friend of TravelSmart on facebook.
