Deakin University is proud to be a sponsor of the Big Idea competition in association with the Big Issue.

The Big Idea competition is a money-can't-buy calendar of opportunities that will give you unprecedented access to experts in the field and influential Australians, whose guidance, advice and direction will ensure students are well placed to develop their ideas into business plans for viable social enterprise.

Combining a series of insightful lectures, workshops and online seminars delivered by some of Australia's most influential and inspiring leaders, the Big Idea competition provides an opportunity for students to learn about the case for social enterprise in Australia. Learn from experts working in the field and hear first-hand from those whose lives have been positively affected by working with a social enterprise.

The Big Idea competition will conclude in December 2014 at the Judging Day when finalist students are invited to pitch their idea to an impressive judging panel and attend a fully catered for Awards Event where the Big Idea winner will be announced.

Not only will each member of the winning team receive an Apple iPad Air, plus other prizes, finalists will network with influential Australian 'Thought' Leaders, and experts across a variety of business sectors.

The winning Deakin team will go head to head against winners from other Australian universities, including Monash, the University of Melbourne and La Trobe.
Students could see their winning entry go on to be launched nationally and delivered by The Big Issue!
