Students' gateway to Campus

Orientation

What is orientation?
Orientation is your chance to have your questions answered!

Orientation for HDR students will be done in two stages; your orientation as a new student to Australia and your academic orientation. Your academic orientation and induction will be conducted by staff from the Research Services Division and academic staff from your Faculty. Your orientation to Australia will be done by an International Student Adviser on your campus.

Your orientation to Australia is an essential part of your successful transition to life and study in this country. Whilst you will undoubtedly be very familiar with how things are done in your own country, life in Australia will very likely be very different for you. Your International Student Advisers (ISA) will explain many aspects of Australian life, culture and study to you to give you the best headstart possible.

Your orientation with the ISA will also help to ensure that you are correctly enrolled and that all of the requisite paperwork has been completed prior to the commencement of your study. You will be informed of your visa conditions, advised on the various University procedures, including I.T. access, your study ID card and advised of the various support services available on your campus.

The International Student Support Team would like to welcome you to Deakin and assure you of our ongoing support and assistance with non academic matters during your time with us.

Deakin University acknowledges the traditional land owners of present campus sites.
